Using your Nokia E61 as a card reader

Hello,

Thanks to L0cutus on my-symbian forum for that very useful trick! It's probably written somewhere in the manual, I suppose, but I hadn't yet found the time to try... Anyway, here it is:

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you don't select "PC Suite" in the menu that appears on your Nokia E61 when you connect it to your PC using the USB cable? What if you select "Data Transfer", for instance?

Well, as explained by L0cutus, unlike Nokia's file manager included in PC Suite, where you can read/write data on the memory card but not access to the protected folders, if you use the "Data Transfer" mode you get full, unrestricted acces to the whole content of the memory card. Very useful to install programs like Route 66 without having to purchase a memory card reader, as I did. ;-)

The only "downside" of using that mode instead of PC Suite is that you can't access to the phone memory, and also it automatically turns off wireless when connecting the cable, although it'll be turned on again when disconnecting.

I hope knowing this can help someone else...

Bye!
